So how much of your job is chasing people?
« on: April 19, 2016, 08:15:16 pm »
Here I am working in an engineering department and sometimes it really seems like half my job is chasing people down so they can do their job which I need them to do so I can complete mine. Got a doc or dwg that needs reviewing? Well yea sure, people get automatic notices, but you still need to pin them down anyway.
Sent an email to someone? Not really good enough you need to call them.
Call someone? Nope, gotta go over to their desk.
Go up to a persons desk? No, definitely gotta go hunt them down as they arnt actually there.

So, am I not the only one that feels like this? And yes, sometimes people are surprised at the speed I get back to them on something.

The larger the company, the worse this is.. Seriously.. I'm a systems engineer (AIX / Linux) and oh boy.. the ridiculous crap I have to deal with..  :palm: Some won't even budge without an escalation from their superior..  :palm:

As a bounty hunter, I would say quite a large portion is chasing people. It's really tiring, but I dropped out of high school, and the federation doesn't have any honest work for people without a diploma.

None. I worked on a commission basis. We had a few toxic types, but someone not doing their job, I got their assigned units to repair. More $$.  :-/O
