How to test CC Led Driver
« on: February 25, 2014, 11:10:11 am »
Hi All.
Just a quick one,
I have been asked by a customer to test 3 of their 50W LED floodlights.

I have checked, and their powersupplies are working, seems to be that the LED Chip may be dead.

Before I tell them that they need new LED Chips, is there a way I can possibly test that the powersupplies are not exceeding the ratings,
and with a no-name chinese fitting, is there a way to tell what the limits are so that it will not mess up a quite expensive LED.

Thanks
P

The 50w LEDs are only about 4 euro each. Did you test the LEDs? Chance are they are overdriven or over heated. The require around 32v at 1.5a.

Where can you buy a 50W LED for 4 euros?? Do they last long or is it a one hour light source...!

Ebay is one place to find such LEDs on the cheap.

Example
http://www.ebay.com/itm/50W-Warm-White-High-Power-LED-Panel-4000LM-50-Watt-Lamp-Light-/380515696976?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item589880c150

I don't know about their reliability however.
