Purpose built solar farm style installation costs 10% of a solar road and works 3.5 times more efficiently.  That makes the solar farm approach 35 times better - and that's not even taking into account maintenance costs.

Hands up anyone who is surprised by this.

But solar farms are so yesterday, we need something hip and trendy that investors will be interested in!  Sadly how the world works though... and it's ridiculous.

People keep trying to reinvent ways of installing solar when it does not need to be reinvented.  All that effort should be put towards making panels more efficient or put into battery tech.  Those are two areas that can always use continuous improvement and would have a much bigger impact.
