Looks nice so far.  Not sure how wordpress is set up but you might want to consider breaking things up into separate pages.  After half a dozen entries it seems like you'll have one seriously long page that will be tricky to navigate.  Since I do pretty much the same thing as you, I might also suggest adding in some real butcher jobs you get to see.  You know, the ones where some so called tech has been there before you and crowbared a fuse with a piece of tinfoil, solder blobs the size of walnuts, lifted pads, burnt wires etc.  then you're left to clean up the wreckage afterwards.  Or better yet, when somebody brings in a piece of gear that's stopped working and when you drop the chassis you find that some rodent has managed to inexplicably get inside the thing and chew through a few sections of hookup wire before getting electrocuted. Those are the ones I find particularly entertaining.

Yeah Ive had a few of the bodge jobs come in just sometimes people want times back so quick that it hard to document. Don't seem to see many things eaten by rodents in the UK see more things like water damage lol.

WordPress lets you put things in separate pages I think but I'm still trying to work it out. Do you have a blog I love reading things like this.

Cheers for the good feedback.

Greetings to a fellow Repair blogger.  Looks like you're off to a good start.

You can tidy up your front page by inserting a 'fold line' after the first paragraph (or so) of each posting.  Wordpress calls it 'Insert More Tag', as highlighted on the attached screen cap of the editor toolbar.

You can click the little blue/green globe under my username at left, or use this.  You may wish to put your own blog address in your EEVblog forum profile in the Website URL box, so you'll have a little blue/green globe too.  :-+

A nice start - good luck on your blog!  Take your time, get the GOOD photos- 'cause no amount of explanation can substitute for what one can't see.  Use your spellchecker, it'll get it right more often than not.  We'll be following you, thanks for the tips!

Ive just got back to doing my blog again but if anyone knows how I can rearrange it with the usual look with a dated bar to one side and different pages easily that would help.

I'm scared its going to delete all my previous post. Is there away to back it up offline as that would make me feel a bit better about editing it.

Just checked your blog now and think that one repair post per page is the way to go.

I'd say you just need to change the theme (layout).  I have a hosted wordpress site so that has backup tools in cpanel.

I agree with the 1 repair per page.  I second also the use of the spellchecker.  You seem to have good troubleshooting and repair skills.  If you intend to use your blog to highlight those skills to garner more business, spell and grammar checks are a must.  I wouldn't want to see you lose work because your communications skills aren't quite at the level of your troubleshooting/repair skills.  Keep posting when you have added more repair posts.  Very interesting overall.

I agree and recently have asked a friend who is very good to proof read my work and he is in the middle of correcting my mistakes. I always struggled with things like this. Hopefully until I get it sorted people can look past my spelling and bad blog design.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks for your blog! This is exactly the kind of stuff I'm repairing as well (in my case, a school's audio equipment).
