Some 80s "New Product Information" Samples/Folder thingies
(1/1)
Valra Bellkeys:
I recently bought a decent lot of components for $100, and at least some of the stuff looks like it belonged to a firm that dealt electronics for some sorta energy thing (I think? I forgot). Anyways, among the many interesting things were these "New Product Information"/Promotional folders samples and whatnot. Most of it is National Semiconductor(my favorite being the switchers one with the Floppy! I hope I can archive that..), then a Signetics 8051 sample thingies. I have a couple more behind what's pictured. Unfortunately these weren't stored in the best of conditions, so the staples on the pamphlets are rusted, folders are warping, etc.. I mostly wanted to share but I still don't know much about them - like if these samples were some sorta subscription or something sent to EEs.

Usually those are free samples/promo/giveaway chips.  Similar with the nowadays online free samples ordering.  Back then there were usually coupons in the paper magazines, to require more info and/or samples.  Destined mostly for companies/universities/students.

Happen to have a clock/timer just like yours in the first pic.  Bought it in the 90's from a flea market, sealed in the same blue blister.  Not of much use today, other than maybe for collecting/nostalgia purposes.  Cool tech some decades ago.  :-+
