Sony WH-1000XM3 charging issue

(1/1)

alex27riva:
Hi everyone, I bought a pair of Sony WH-1000XM3 headphone during black friday, and I'm having issues when charging the battery.
The headphones do not charge when a power supply with a high current rating is used.
I tried with my OnePlus 6 charger (5V 4A) and the original OnePlus cable and when I connect the type C connector to the headphones, the red led (charging) stays on for 3 seconds and the it turns off.
I tried also with the power supply of my Huawei Matebook D 14", a 65W USB C charger with the following output:
5V 2A, 9V 2A, 12V 2A, 15V 3A, 20V 3,25A but same issue..
I tried with another Huawei charger, 5V 1A and it works fine... but why?
There is some kind of protection in the headphones that prevents charging with high current power supplies...
Other people on Reddit have the same issue.
I think it is a compatibility problem between the various USB C charging standards, but how could I better diagnose the problem?
I also have a USB C tester bought from Aliexpress with which I could do several tests.

From the manual:  "Charging may not be successful with cables other than the supplied USB Type-C cable"     ;)
