The CFM story is quite fascinating, a French-American alliance.
A joint venture of SNECMA (which has now changed its name) and GE.
Which has endured many years of partnership, despite the quite different corporate cultures.

Not only the B737 but the A319, A320 use it. Several USAF planes too. If my memory serves my correctly, they have built something like 15,000 units across several variants.
