ST decided to kill all their datasheet links
« on: August 26, 2011, 02:33:18 am »
It seems ST decided to have a new site. Now every single link I click either in Eagle, Google or anywhere else is broken. Why can't they just make a symbolic link and have everything working perfectly as TI does? And their datasheets are named after their code and not by the part / family name. Now I can't even Google for a current LD1117 datasheet because all I find is nasty scanned copies from 1998 or something like that on a bloated site full of adds and links to the AXX-something variations.

Now their links are twice as long, guys!
Well done, ST, you managed to piss off everyone who bookmarked YOUR parts.

Links on Digikey still seem to work.

If this is their new site, I have to say, it's pretty piss poor. JSP, pop-up windows, Flash... everything a site should not be.

Their part search seems to work only if you switch into Flash mode... and clicking on an item in the search result does not even work.

Dave.

They probably sent the new links to the distributors, but the google index is still messed up and the links people left on forums are all broken. On Eagle, the links in the description box are all broken and I bet the guys at Eagle will take a while to update them.

Here's an old style link:

This appeared 5th on Google.

They have obviously got some kid in who was able to fast talk them into using all the bells and whistles he could.

They have even hidden or deleted obsolete components - no data at all, not even an acknowledgement that it existed in the first place.  I was trying to find an equivalent to a FET they had discontinued and could not even find the datasheet for the original device using the search on the website.

I ended up using a Fairchild device as I couldn't be bothered having to wait for the ST website.
