But other rockets displayed problems not evident when testing fewer engines, like pogo oscillation.

Sure, we cannot compare the rocket technology of that time, but at least they had similar launch towers (1969)  :D :D

Some time ago there was mention of maybe doing a static fire of 9 engines first. Not sure what the current status of that plan is...
