New EPA Dork Squad For Students
« on: October 07, 2012, 07:47:50 pm »
Greetings EEVBees:

--When I went to junior high school the dorkiest kids were hallway monitors. The would wear the all white Sam Brown Belts, and they were there to make sure you had a hallway pass and were not ditching. They somehow were never to be seen off campus or after school. Now the EPA has reinvented the Dork Squad, and is calling it the Young Pioneers. Strike that, I forgot, that was the USSR. The new EPA Dork Squad is going to be called the Energy Patrol. No word on the uniforms yet.

--I wonder how long before they will be tattling about energy usage by parents and neighbors, and leaving notes on SUVs. "How could this happen. My son was assaulted just because he told the neighbor's kid that their family was a bunch of greedy energy hogs, sob" See below link.

"I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled."

How is this any different than "stop drop and roll" or D.A.R.E or March of Dimes or nuclear drills with children cowering under desks? We had this same stuff in schools 40 years ago - kids come home and tell mom how unsafe the "octopus" in the kitchen is, or how the dripping faucet is wasting water.

Energy has quadrupled in price since 9/11. Our economic woes have us blaming each other (ahem.. cough) for the problems because no one wants to make the hard choices. The cheapest way to have more energy right now is to conserve it. It's not about being green, it's about national security. And yes, SUV owners who drive them alone most of the time are un-american. Hybrids can double mileage, but most SUV owners couldn't give a shit less. Ford had a good one, the hybrid package was dropped.
