I've seen pictures on Amazon being completely mismatched to the product descriptions quite a few times. Does that happen due to the database having an error and linking to the wrong files or does the seller get confused and uploaded the wrong files?

It's strange because the description isn't totally wrong, just partially. Don't know how that would happen.
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

Let's assume that the seller relies on Google Translator. From that perspective it is just two different product descriptions concatenated. This could happen easily, if he forgot to clear the input window between copy / pastes.

Yup, people uploading the wrong picture to ebay happens a lot. Here's a used oscilloscope for sale that looks suspiciously like the surface of mars: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Gebrauchter-Oszillograf-HAMEG-512-Trigger-noch-bearbeitungs-beduerftig-/354116011302

They also often change the actual product - e.g. have something good, it gets a lot of good reviews, now they switch it for some junk they want to sell. Amazon's system is stupid, it doesn't wipe out the reviews and most people only see the number of 5 star reviews, not that they are for a completely different/irrelevant product ...

It is an old seller trick.

More like the listing as been revised tons of times by the seller to keep his star rating and reviews, fooling the algorithm.

That's one of the tricks of some sellers. If you see Dave's video about the Dymo DRM you will see that Dymo changed a listing of their older product for the new one, in a way of keeping his positive feedback they had before.

I get the pic on the right, but what do they have to do with picture frames?

I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

It looks like somebody got sick and tired of trying to find the right sized spanner, only a proper tool would do something like that.   ;D
