Strange power lead for power points on desk
« on: October 11, 2022, 10:17:13 pm »
Does anyone recognise this connector that is fitted to a set of power sockets on my new (second hand) desk?  I think I have found the connector on the internet, as part of the "START" system, but I wonder if it is a more standardised connector as that does not look like a perfect match (no obvious mating locking lug for instance on mine and the keying looks different than the pictures, but hard to tell).  Pin spacing is roughly 10mm and current rating seems to be around 5A or less going by the fuses on the power points, and the centre pin is marked as an earth.  Does not seem to be an IEC connector of any standard form.  I'm after a BS1363 plug end to connect these, or even better an IEC coupler for my UPS, which wasn't included with the desk.

That there is a Wieland ST18/3, I believe. They're available with a little searching, RS appear to have plentiful males at least.

I'm guessing you've been saddled with some old OE Powerbar or Powerbox bits.

Bearing in mind those are GSTs, and the system here is ST.

Bugger me,will pay more attention next time im linking lights together as i could swear they were the same thing as we used about 30 year ago on sockets like the above,.As an aside have they bothered with the earth bond to the metal frame that gets shoved in the other end of the socket?

Pay attention to the mating key ways when ordering.
Don't ask a question if you aren't willing to listen to the answer.
