Strange problem with Sony TV
« on: November 06, 2020, 05:07:48 pm »
I have just got a new Sony Bravia TV which due to not being able to get terrestrial TV I use with a Humax sat box. Trouble is that some channels the volume control only works with the sat box and others only with the TV,even with a one for all remote it is a nuisance especial for my wife who has mobility problems. The box and TV are connected via HDMI. I posted this on Sonys forum only to get the answer turn the TV volume right up and use the volume control on the sat box, this is no good as some channels the volume will only be controlled by the TV irrespective of the sat box settings and vice versa.Any one have ideas on this, it has to be something to with HDMI and how that works but what.

Could be that the TV is controlling the set top box via CEC.  Look for a feature like "CEC" or "Bravia Link" and try turning it off.

Cannot find any feature such as Bravia link or CEC there is a feature labeled bravia sync but when I click on it the message " no devices found" comes up.

You may need to connect the devices with a separate audio cable, if both have that option.
