was away in Amsterdam recently and after a recommendation from someone on here to visit the Teylers Museum we decided to go take a look as it's only a short train ride from Amsterdam.
Unfortunately i did not take any video or stills as the museum had a no cameras, phones, bags policy so i respected that.
The science collection is vast and varied, a lot of the instruments were commissioned by Teylers during the 18th and 19th century and were used in the same rooms they still stand.
There are many electrical experiments which is what attracted my attention, the centerpeice of the instrument room is the largest electrostatic generator using glass disks with a rather lethal looking set of leyden jars used as a capacitor. Some of the instruments look simply stunning most of which are all or contain many precision brass parts.
The museum also houses many fine art pieces, of which i know nothing about!
If your in the area i can highly recommend it, it's only about 15 mins walk from Haarlem train station.
They also have an impressive display of minerals in the Oval Room, of which i did sneek the attached picture of my Geiger counter over the, erm 'warm' end of the display cabinet.
