Hey there planet Earth!

I'm in the process of restocking my parts bins.  There are many resistor and capacitor kits out there at Jameco and on eBay.  Jameco has several semiconductor kits too, but usually these kits have stuff many folks will never use.

So I'm putting out the question to the group: What would your ideal component kits contain?

There are always the old faithfuls (741, 358, 317, 301, 747, 78xx, etc., but what would you like to have in your part's bin?

For the Linear / Op Amp Kit, some op-amp parameters to consider would be:

- General Purpose
- Low Noise
- Precision
- Audio
- Rail-to-Rail
- Specific Purpose

Also, any specific Regulators, timers, etc.

Then there's the discrete semiconductor parts kit: 2N3904, 2N3906, 2N2222, 1N914, etc.

I guess I'm looking for real-world usage.  Obviously the ideal part varies in every situation, but I also see many project using similar parts.

Be creative!

I'll summarize later in the thread.

Thanks!

I would have a few precision parts such as the op07 opamp I would have opamp a such as the tl072 and the ones you mentioned, buy many capacitors of values that you use so you aren't left with lots of capacitors you won't use. Obviously 555 timers, and if your into arduino stock lots of atmega 328 chips with boot loader, so you can easily embed arduino in applications witch is always useful.

LM324/LM339 is nice, four devices per IC vs two on 358/393 (I believe they are otherwise interchangeable.)

Can't go wrong with some lm317's and some 78xx regulators. Also some good old 1N4007, some 1n4148's and maybe even some SD103's. I also find having some tip30's and tip31's handy for various purposes. And the to220 darlington comp pairs also. And I like mje51034 and mje51035. Good all around medium power high voltage and good all around high spec bjt.
