Title: Sunvic energy regulator

I got a few of these in a box of variacs.

Any idea what they are used for?

Sorry, I've seen that but can't work out what it is on about.  Is it that the current drawn heats the switch which shuts it off until it cools?  Seems a strange way to set it?  Not sure where that would work.  I've at least two of these and when I hooked them up the switch comes on and then goes off after a short time.  I didn't leave it to find out if it switches back on again.  I wouldn't be happy with things that with on at some random time after switching off...
