Has anyone done any reflow with a T-962/ is there a better option/dollar / what kind of density does it max?

They seem to have some problems what i have read about it.
It uses IR elements which heat up certain components to much and others not enough. It also does not have an convection fan so there are a few cold spots in the oven. The best thing you can do is build yourself one.
Get and mini oven with ~100W /L and mod an high temperature (microwave) fan in it to provide convection. The more expensive option would be an microwave whit convection oven and an oven wattage of ~100w per liter.

The ovens with convection fans don't come cheap, or they only have switchable top or bottom heaters as far as i've seen   ;D
But it is a HELL lot cheaper than the T962 but you just have to do a few mods left and right (Simple PID controller, the ones you see on industrial equipment)
