Tektronix 2432 Scope Probes, Aftermarket or Reduced Bandwidth
« on: November 22, 2012, 04:08:34 am »
I just picked up a used Tektronix 2432 scope for $245 US.  I think this is a pretty good deal especially that it's local person selling and I have 14 days to return it if I wish to.  Is it as good of a deal as I think it is?  The scope comes with manuals and a cover, but no probes.  I didn't realize until after I committed to buy the scope the high cost of 300MHz probes.  A set of two OEM models cost me more than the scope!  I found a online retailer of some non-Tektronix branded probes that seem to be much more reasonable.  I know that you generally get what you pay for in test equipment, but is this deal to good to be true (link below)?  Secondly, other than reduced bandwidth, is there any problems using scope probes of lower bandwidth?  I wouldn't think there would be, but I know enough about electronics to know I don't know enough about electronics...  Thanks!
