Did anyone else catch the Alanis Morissette jab in "Word Crimes"?

Yes, Weird Al is a genius.  I present exhibit 'A'.

A double parody.  A parody of a song and of the song's singer (Bob Dylan) with a little twist.

I won't spoil the "little twist" of this video.  If you don't get it then read the YouTube comments.

If you are too young to know who Bob Dylan is then all you really have to understand in this particular case is that, when he sung, he was really hard to understand due to his distinctive singing style.

Awesome! I hadn't seen that before. Yes, a parody and a tribute (not ridicule)!

Pure genius.

It has to be said, anyone learning Guitar can do pretty much all of Bob Dylan's repertoire using just 3 chords. If you really want to be fancy, 5 chords will do.  O0

I'm a big WAY fan, but his past couple albums seem to be going with the status quo of "two good songs surrounded by 18 crap songs".

That said, I really like "Word Crimes" and "Handy".

He mentioned on an interview that this album was his last to fulfill his 16 album (!?!?!) contract.  So he will now be releasing songs in a single song format more timely than putting together a whole album.  That will also allow him to be more timely.

There was a local guitar player that was fantastic.  But part of his act, he gave away large suckers.  Then put one in his mouth, and was as unintelligible as Dylan.

(abbreviated for no reason other than saving keystrokes)

Do you realize you wasted more keystrokes typing that than actually typing out "Yankovic".  :-DD

You know you grew up in the 80s if you still get a little excited when Weird Al releases a video.
I used to but not any more. After 'Like a Surgeon' and 'Fat' the trick grew old. While playing Al's Tacky video my kids pointed me to a way more hilareous version of 'Happy':

Beat ya to it ;D

Apparently there is another "Happy" parody by someone else.  This one has a cameo by Joan Rivers.

Holy thread resurrection, Batman...

OK GO's "I won't let you down" latest video - turning cute Japanese girls with coloured parasols into a dot matrix of pixels... and riding around on some strange Honda vehicles.
