Impressive stuff performance wise but 95ÂșC makes me a little anxious...

Quite amazing that just one generation they managed to get roughly 20-30% better performance, and a base boost clock of 5.6GHz is baffling.

we had a war on efficiency / heat dissipation  etc ...  and now its the total opposite

Nvidia GE 4000   can max up to 480 watts ???  insane

Amd cpu and Intel one's 

I tought an 850watts psu would be more than enough ....

I tought an 850watts psu would be more than enough ....

Right?  I have a brand new 850W supply and an NH-D15 sitting on the shelf waiting on these announcements to decide which team I'm going with this time.  I thought I would be comfortably in the overkill category but it seems like what I have will be merely "adequate" haha

There's a big difference between these top end parts and general desktop machines. The vast majority of users don't need anything approaching that power, and that includes most EEs here. Typical business class desktops today idle well under 20W and will rarely even hit 100W at full load - and those aren't even the low power solutions.

With this new gen of parts, my Corsair AXi 1200W PSU stopped being on the "Overkill" field to be almost in the "Recommended" tier...
