The elephant in the room. Rapid PCB manufacture should there be sanctions.

Red Squirrel:
I personally do my best to avoid China.  As far as I'm concerned there should be sanctions against them for all the pollution they generate, the human rights issues etc...  but regress, want to avoid making this political.

It's hard to avoid them 100% though since it seems everything is made there but I always try to find an alternate if I can.  I have not gotten PCBs made yet but I have found a few that make them here in Canada so I would probably go with them first even if it's a bit more expensive.  Though if it ends up like 10x more expensive then it's kind of hard to justify...    But the price I see is also the price I pay.  No exchange rate, no tarifs etc.

The bare components are most likely all made in China too, so can't really avoid them either way.   Actually it would be cool if sites like Digikey had country of origin as a parametric search option.
Bud:
PCBs are 10x expensive here right now. If things happen, the local manufacturers will help themselves as they please. I still have memories of being quoted $400 for 5 boards 6x3 inch here in Toronto back in early 2000s.

Once, when looking to buy a new pair of shoes, I tried to find some not made in China. The best I could do was made in Vietnam.

I don't like ordering PCBs from China, but if I had to buy from American fab houses then I couldn't afford to buy them at all. Not for hobby purposes.
