The black boxes are suspicious. They claim to store your data but who really knows what else they do? Nar. Give me core rope memory any day! |

Yep. they are getting better & 'better'... however, that's not following the modern trend! The 'Trend' these days, for Computers/Laptops/Tablets/Smartphones, at least as far as SOFTWARE goes, is to have everything 'Cloud-Based'!! With your 'devices' being relatively dumb terminals. (OK, you can access all your data from anywhere). The amount of device Storage will not be the issue. I understand that, but I HATE that!! :( It's just my age, I know, but I want MY Laptops/Tablets etc to be totally self contained with respect to my Software/Data etc. |

LOL. I think it’s hilarious how people think server-based computing (which is all the cloud is) is somehow new. It’s not. In the olden days, computers were always shared due to cost. Only later did local (i.e. personal) computers come along. All that’s happened is us coming full circle since we now have good network connections at home and on the go. The ONLY part that’s new is calling it the cloud instead of a server. |

It's just that "Personal Computing" of recent years did lean away from that, using full dedicated software on one's own machines/devices. Now it's changing back again, but for different reasons. Apps, Programs, Memory requirements & Data-Storage have climbed massively high, compared to the older days. So it obviously offloads the 'grunt' of work to Servers now. As well as obviously allowing all that 'Data' now to be accessed by any other devices. Great for say 'Architects' etc between various staff on various sites. I just don't TRUST that yet. :( It seems that 'cracking' cloud based servers in NUMEROUS fields, seems to be quite common now. :o |
