The Engineering Wiki

I'm aware that wikis have been done in the past for the eevblog and was overrun with spammers and such. I'm not sure of the whole story because I wasn't around for it.

I really like the idea of being able to share information with other engineers, especially little "tricks" that we've learned to "fast forward" through "first principles". My idea is to provide a platform for all areas of engineering, not just electronics. I thought I'd start here because the eevblog has quite an active community. Full disclaimer: this is by no means publicly presentable yet. I don't know too much about what I'm doing, but I'm learning as I go. So far, I just have Mediawiki installed with pretty much every spam filter wikimedia recommends. The current permissions require an account to create/edit articles, but everyone can read them, which I think is sufficient. I'm really looking for some people who would help create an organized structure for a wiki before a real public launch. I'm having issues importing LUA-based templates from Wikipedia (portals, etc.)

I'm not looking to make money off of this, I just want this resource available to engineers.

Any help would be great. Please reply here if you can help out (I need to change some permission to allow others to create accounts I think). Yes, the server is slow, I know. I just want to be sure this is something there is some interest in before I scale up. And yes, there is no logo yet. Anyone know anybody?

The URL is http://engiwiki.com

Thanks,

Michael
