Glad I'm not the only one, I refreshed the page and swore it changed, but figured maybe I just didn't notice, but the page did feel darker than usual.

I don't know if it's just me, but the forum feels more cluttered now...  :-[

Yeah, not fond of it either, it just feels a bit more constrictive, and out of place considering the rest of the color scheme.

Didn't even notice until you guys pointed it out.
I'd rather a Google clue, link, or some theory than "do this" (generally)

That bloody image makes my eyes go squiffy, just like the RS image.

The problem is that, as someone that has been doing stereoscopic photography for >30 years (gulp), my eyes naturally "lock on" to homologous points - even when they aren't homologous. So, left eye locks onto one pimple, right eye locks onto the adjacent pimple, and ouch.

Fortunately it takes all of 10s in AdBlock Plus to remove the offending image, and all is well.

There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Damn that's a cool new word for me - thanks.

I've had zero complaints (in fact only praise) about the exact same background image on the main blog website  :-//
Yes I know the colour scheme doesn't match but I think it's at least best to have matching background for now.

I lack the ability to do a pattern that is as subtle as that one, but what about the same sort of thing, but with the navy blue from the current scheme instead of the grey? It is a nice pattern in itself, and more detailed than you think when you zoom in, but it kind of feels like it's putting the web page within another window.

If you do stick with this, you should change that text at the very bottom, it's quite difficult to read now.

Because the whole idea is to eventually integrate the look of the website and the forum. This is the same background as the website.

While we are on the topic... the background repeats at 2560px res. Iirc this was fixed months ago by making the background image very wide, but it got un-fixed at some point.

The background image has never been changed.
IIRC that issue was never fixed.

Maybe I've done something. Can't remember. I only see a half inch of it on the left and right. I do not find it distracting.

On the other hand, I do agree with Dave. Not having the forum theme somewhat match the website is just cheap web design.
I'd rather a Google clue, link, or some theory than "do this" (generally)

FYI, the stuff at the bottom of the page,

is almost invisible. Maybe put it in a gray-background box or something?

It just seems like a waste of space.

P.S. Is the site running slow, or is it me?

The problem will go away.  Just look at the content, not the background.

You'll soon not notice - unless you think about it.

It takes up so extremely little of the screen, anyway.  Unless you're reading at an unbearable browser window size, in which case, it's literally your own fault.

Not true, unfortunately. Eyesight is largely autonomic responses.

It had me baffled for a moment the other day when I was browsing the forum and it changed.

I'm happy with it, although I also agree that it doesn't really match the rest of the forum.

When the whole site got overhaulded.
That's different. I personally never visit main site, so any changes there will go unnoticed by me.

What's is the value of main site for regulars here anyway? Am I missing something?
