Agreed, especially for those ones where the colours are ambiguous (if a human eye, which has a high dynamic range and colour accuracy, can't distinguish the colours, how can a cheap webcam sensor do it?)

It is not worth sorting these resistors, when the amount of work is worth more than the resistors themselves. And it is more time.

I agree but there are other reasons for wanting to identify a resistor, such as fault finding.

Good luck to me finding the difference between red and brown (or purple and blue) on a blue background! I struggle with the blue ones terribly.

I like this project, an app that can reliably identify a resistor colour code would be nice. Could be useful for identifying in circuit.

I wouldn't encourage a normal sane person to sit down and sort resistors. I don't think even the CIA do that to prisoners.

Exactly that, there is no way that you can sort bunch of the resistors by reading colors. Even sorting with a multimeter is terrible work.
So I think that this application is a great tool for first step in sorting bunch of resistors.
Later on when you need to use one of  these resistors just check them once again with a multimeter.  I do that even on the brand new resistors, you can never know..
I'll give 100$ for sorting resistors in bunch on the picture. It weights few kilos. Anyone interested?

My 8 year old has better vision is faster doesn't require electricity and can sort and count them as well! :-)
