Cool. I got the now obsolete 888 a couple of months ago, believe it or not - on purpose. I just wanted that knob. Old school :) I guess.
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

the new user interface is a little hard to figure out first go,I had to consult the "paper of knowledge",which most like to think they don't need, but that temp LCD is comforting.

I got a Hakko FG-100 tip thermometer off Ebay, not because I needed it but because it was so cheap - $17 - I couldn't pass it up. Well, it's probably a "fake" but it works great. When I tested my non-digital 888 with it, I set the knob to 350 deg C.

You know what the FG-100 read?

Exactly 350 deg! Not one deg off.

I was shocked.
