Title: The Official 2016 Christmas Pressies Thread
Post by: Shock on November 10, 2016, 02:06:33 am
Guess what?

It's Christmas time!? ...and in the festive spirit of receiving, tell us about your pressies and acquisitions for Christmas (big or small). As per EEVblog tradition we've started plenty early to cover all belief systems.

I'll get the ball rolling with some stocking stuffers I just picked up:
Fluke 73 (as new condition but no rubber holster, what the hell Santa!)
Raytek Minitemp MT4 IR Thermometer
RDL STM-3 High Gain Mic Preamp

and lastly I just finally received my new old Dick Smith K-3602 Eprom Programmer (thanks to blacksheeplogic (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/reviews/eadse-k3602-eprom-programmer/))

My wife always gets exactly what I want! Photos to come...

An 80486 Gaming rig. I plan to do a video of me making, installing, and benching it, anybody interested?

A few of us oldies may still have a 486 laying about somewhere. I say go for it, bonus points for footage showing restoration or soldering/repair.

I could get a lot of socks for the cost of one of those.

Almost similar to Blueskull's timing, but not a Keysight's scope though, but still really good, won a free DS1104Z-S in last July at one of the contest in this forum, here, sitting above my analog beast.  :P

All thanks to a local member here in NZ....Dubbie.  :-+
You should see what he put in the place that the 1104Z held.  ;)

Christmas came a little early this year; I got this:

Sitting in the lab doing electronics is how I make a living all day, every day, so the last thing I want is more test equipment.

Take a break, focus on something more than two feet from the end of your nose, get some fresh air, meet some other humans.

The only restoration needed would be to wire up an external battery pack to the motherboard. I could do that on camera I guess.

The 80486 machines were mostly surface mount high density IC's at that point, and only the very large connectors and parts were through hole. I personally can't do SMD and I don't want to try lest I break something.

Man, I would love to start archery, it seems like a great sport.

That's a nice-looking device. What's the bandwidth?

Depends on the required precision. About 0.05 Hz is fairly typical.

Shock's thread has been very quiet this year so can we liven it up some?

I've got one of these on the water for our youngest and me.  :)

RCBS, Nice. I've always wanted to try reloading. Never had a chance to ever get into guns like I wanted to. My car/school took my money. Then the T&M gear...

You might want to move to the country.  ;)

Its a Horizon Pro, one of their mid range target recurve risers. I got some cheap limbs with it on the basis that I expect my noodle arms to strengthen a bit with exercise, and I'll likely want to change them for a higher draw weight once the outdoor season starts. Right now 30 lb is more than enough for indoors.

I just bought myself a little Christmas present. It's electronics related - sort of. A nice Zero FXS electric motorbike, for delivery in January when the UK government's £1500 grant kicks in. Can't wait!
