In simple terms, it is a restructured limited liability company that could be an attempt at revitalization, or could simply be selling off assets.  That certainly seems to fit the other brands with which the "new" RadioShack" is associated.

This has happened with RCA, Westinghouse, Kodak and many other well known brands around. Sears still has an online presence, as well as its branch searspartsdirect.com for appliance parts (which I am a big fan).
