Just watching the BBC 'One Show'. They featured a young girl who loves wildlife but is unable to go out in sunshine without heavy protection due to an incurable skin sun sensitivity.
In order to provide the girl with a wildlife safari, the One Show engaged the services of a Night Safari Wildlife tour operator. They were using a combination of FLIR Tau thermal camera (roof mounted on a PT head) and handheld Thermal and Active IR viewers. They used a Landrover Defender as the mobile platform. Very neat. I have both the thermal and IR cameras, plus PT mounts, to do the same on my wife's X-Trail 4x4. Now there's a fun little project.
What a great idea. The little girl loved the safari and easily tracked several different animals including deer, foxes and a hedgehog.
For children this is magical stuff. If you have children and a thermal camera, take them out to the country for a night safari

Active IR viewers from Russia are pretty reasonably priced too. Alternatively a decent monochrome CCTV camera and IR flood lamp works well.
