That is probably the issue and explains why people in different parts of the world see things differently. Akamai is a proxy/cache service that stores data nearer the origin of the request.
IME they are not the most stable service in the world...

It’s not a geographical issue, since we have reports of it from various parts of the world, plus my experience of it working on one device and not another, on the same internet connection.
