merging threads is a nightmare and virtually a non feature, I will just randomly lock one of them if necessary, usually it get's reported soon enough that one of them has no replies. |

As some replies, might not correspond, time wise, causing confusion. I think the OP doesn't seem to realize, that poorly written questions, that are difficult to read, and tend to cause confusion, attitude issues at times, and hence probably being on a number of members ignored lists and/or just manually ignored. Result in them getting few responses and poor quality answers. I still can't really understand why they don't patiently save up and just buy quality/working test equipment, and take care of stuff. Rather than buying, already old and/or broken equipment, which they don't seem to realize is too often beyond their patience/knowledge, to ever successfully repair. But I suppose, each to their own. |

I started ignoring a while ago, virtually all of his posts are barely legible txt-speak and the bad attitude and complaining about people that are trying to help finally pushed me over the edge. I can't be bothered to put time into helping somebody who can't be bothered to at least attempt to use some semblance of proper grammar and not be confrontational with people who are trying to help. |

You are quite right. What I meant was that there are (assuming 2 original threads) two sets of threads, just before they are merged together. So, the reply immediately before each post. Might actually be from the other thread. So, although the forum software would get the timings of the posts correct. Any answers to posts, WITHOUT quoting which post they were referring to, could cause confusion. As they might come from the other thread. It is a much harder concept to explain, than I originally realized. EDIT: What I was trying to say, seems to be nicely included in your previous reply "it can cause confusion if a post is inserted between two others". So I meant the original time lines are WRONG, in that a previous post, might be from a DIFFERENT timeline, i.e. another thread. Potentially causing much confusion (just as you just said). TL;DR Correct time, but WRONG thread in that timeline. Is what I meant. |
