Freight cost, Melb to Syd - anyone with experience?
« on: June 14, 2017, 11:47:40 am »
I have some things in Melbourne, to be shipped to Sydney. One is a big heavy (50Kg?) 3-phase vacuum pump, that will be mounted on a wooden base for transport.

There are a lot of different freight cost comparison sites online. Has anyone used these? Any comments on how well they worked?

Or does anyone know a truckie that drives Melb to Sydney and would like some cash on the side?
A few years ago I had an blacksmiths anvil and swage plate shipped from a Victorian farm to my place that way, and it worked well. But the truckie was arranged by the seller.

Edit to add: Due to scheduling requirements, apparently I'm going to drive down myself and pick up the stuff.
But the general question about shipping still stands, only not so urgently.
