TTL based tennis game kit

Stumbled on this thing on tindie. That's one huge kit to build, but I do like the TTL-only aspect of it!

Nice, I'd like something like that. Not sure I could afford one though.

Hm, that isn't clone of the original as the name suggests...
The difficult we do today; the impossible takes a little longer.

I am old enough to remember the original design, UK wise, was called "Ping-Pong"   ::)

I attempted to build one in early nineties, using a Soviet clone of an IC specifically designed for this application. Not sure if it was myself or the clone part but it never worked ;)

On Dr. Hugo Holden's Electronics website he describes the circuit in a superb 100 page Pdf entitled "ATARI PONG E CIRCUIT ANALYSIS & LAWN TENNIS:"

I wonder how close this is to the original board...  I believe it was also created mostly using logic chips.
Maintain your old electronics!  If you don't preserve it, it could be lost forever!

I remember back in the day when I used to repair these sorts of arcade games (nearly 40 years ago!), there was little documentation from the manufacturer apart from circuit diagrams and parts lists.
There were a couple of companies that produced service guides and explanations of how they worked for the service industry. Very helpful for those brought up on analogue electronics and needing a leg up to the digital side.
