Using PCB as Direct connector for USBC
(1/1)
Regenerate3d:
Hi All,
Looking to make a FDTI device as small as possible and with as few components possible.
I've seen a connector on a PCB please see attached image. Can anyone point me in the right direction with a footprint etc. I'm using Kicad to design the PCB.
Many thanks

Sorry I forgot to attach image.

Seems to be here somewhere around p.42: https://www.usb.org/sites/default/files/USB%20Type-C%20Spec%20R2.0%20-%20August%202019.pdf Or, at least those dimensioned layouts can help you build your own.

0.6mm, with 0.5mm on each side for contacts to stick up, total thickness 0.7mm ±0.05mm. 0.8mm PCB is just a tad too thick, and might damage the plugs.

I have a cheap UV lamp that comes with screen protectors, to harden the glue.
PCB is 0.6mm thick. Inserting width is 6.4mm.
