Title: Vactrols - RoHS / non cadmium sulphide LDR?
Post by: vixo on May 03, 2022, 12:54:56 pm
I still have cause to use the old "vactrol" style optocouplers which are really (as far as I know) just a LED and a LDR. I was interested to find that there are now companies making RoHS compliant devices which I was surprised to see as I didn't realise there was any alternative to using cadmium sulphide in a LDR.

does anyone know what the deal is with these things? Is there a RoHS friendly LDR out there? Are they using different technology? Or might it just be a normal cadmium sulphide LDR with an RoHS sticker on it??
