Best way to measure guitar pickup impedance response?

Hi just wondering if anyone has a good suggestion for measuring and plotting the magnitude of the impedance at different frequencies of a guitar pickup.

So far I have used a function generator in series with a known resistance R and my pickup connected through the input jack and cable and played around with different frequencies.

At each frequency I measure the voltage across both R and the pickup and I can find the current as Vr/R and since the pickup is in series with R I can find out what the impedance is: |Z| = Vpickup/I for different frequencies.

Wondering if anyone has another idea on performing this measurement.

Sweeped frequency response graph - like dave has just demonstrated on saturday, friday if you live in the states

I have to sweep frequencies but my question is more related to ideas on what kind of connection to the AC source should my guitar pickup have. Right now I am connecting my AC source to the patch cord (connected to the pickup) and measuring impedance that way, but it is neglecting the effect of the strings.

Any more suggestions?

Now constructing the test equipment may be a bit more difficult
