Title: VC8045II benchtop multimeter, anybody tried it?
Post by: Dago on September 05, 2012, 06:05:14 am
I saw this on ebay yesterday and got interested: http://www.ebay.com/itm/280957511044 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/280957511044)

It is a VC8045II type benchtop multimeter with true RMS and it costs something like 130$ shipped. Specs say its good for 0.05% +3 on the DC volts range which is pretty impressive. I'm not sure but I think it is made by Atten.

Does anybody have one or has anyone tried one? Dave should review it if its good for anything.

You do not have microAmp on the DC scale.

Did not notice that! But it's just a minor con because with really small currents I usually use my (copy) of daves µcurrent adaptor ( http://www.dgkelectronics.com/quick-project-of-the-day-a-current-adapter/ (http://www.dgkelectronics.com/quick-project-of-the-day-a-current-adapter/) ).

The manual range selection of that VC8045 doesn't seem very practical.
Apart from being very outdated (>1990's handheld meters had this), this seems
quite impractical fro a benchy meter, which tends to stand further away.
That VC8145 looks like a better choice.
