Sounds like a really stupid idea... First, you have to extract the PVB film from the windshield (probably by heating and dissolving it), then you have to purify it because it is going to end up in a product that experiences a lot of skin contact->not great if it contains toxic additives. It looks like they use the PVB as a base layer and just add another type of plastic like polyurethane or PVC as a coating... They could have used cotton as a base layer (and i bet that this would be more energy efficient), but that would yield a "normal" form of artifical leather that isn't distinguished enough for hipsters to use. So they take a lot of energy to separate and clean a plastic that was never intended to be used as a fabric, cover it with another layer of plastic and claim that it is a great product because it contains "recycled" materials. Yeah. Edit: Who thought that a tracker that spends 99.9% of its time in absolute darkness should be powered via a solar panel? Yes, it is definitely convenient to place your tracker OUTSIDE your wallet for hours to charge it up so that you can find your wallet. They claim that a 3h charge lasts for 2-3 months, thats long enough to not remember that you have to charge it but short enough to be a PITA when you need it and are under the impression that it is still charged. Also: Bluetooth for tracking. Works like a charm when you know that it should be in a specific room or car but really want to search everything because it can't give you a precise location. |
