If I want to make a mix tape for say music from the video game Stray, I can dump it onto a cassette tape and an hour or two later I have a physical medium that won't go away or magically disappear for at least the next 10-15 years. Brilliant! --- End quote --- Tape does deteriorate when played. I have some cassettes that have audible pitch changes due to the tape becoming stretched from playing them. And tapes can break. No, no more cassette tapes for me. I have all my music on a harddrive where I can play it from. On top of that, I can play en sequential or random order. |

Even Compact Cassettes have made something of a comeback, though you can't buy a decent player new these days, unlike with vinyl. --- End quote --- All those cliched categories 😂🤣 How about being a simple human knowing that audio exists on vinyl, ergo one feels like buying it and does. You don’t have to be pigeonholed to be a human, nor to buy a product. All this <cringe> “retro” piffle - some folk simply own a record player or two, like a singer and are used to using records and never moved past them (I know a couple) - it’s a simple logical purchase, the same as buying a bar of soap or cornflakes. Who cares what “made a comeback”. If shops stop selling a brand of chocolate and they suddenly decide to restock again, it’s like … ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

It's now the bulkiest and easiest to damage medium. |

Yes, 8-track was available with it's issues. Vinyl was the most prevalent media and available player next to 8-track in consumer homes until regular cassettes tool over in home and car stereos. |
