Doesn't Spice have a run-mode designed to characterise how a DC migrates toward a stable state from a set condition (like off to on)

This video was great, ton of effort to get the actual data instead of just showing a simulation.

Yes, rather well done.
Something you can indeed simulate with a transient simulation and proper modeling of transmission lines, but a good experiment showing what happens is great.
