Title: Warranty claim on failed LCR meter
Post by: cprobertson1 on February 20, 2016, 03:14:32 pm
Afternoon folks!

My LCR Meter (BK Precision 879B) intermittently cut out in the past - replacing the battery usually fixes it - Unit has now cut out entirely and will not turn on despite replacing battery - unit gives no sign of life.

Device is still under warranty however - has anybody had experience making warranty claims with BK Precision?

Apparently I also need to ship it to the US (I live in the UK) which means it'll be a £70 ride - though the nearest service centre to me is in France - they sure don't make this easy! I wonder if I can contact the company that I bought it from actually...? Any ideas?

First port of call would be the company you bought it from. They should handle your warranty claim directly.

Did you buy it in the UK?
If so why not just return it to where you bought it.
Consumer regulations make it the responsibility of them not manufacturer.

Awesome! Bought from uk.farnell.com - just emailed them there!

Tis' a damn nuisance that it failed - I was checking the tolerance on a small batch of resistors and it just blanked out and refused to do anything. Must not have have liked my 120k resistors!

When I broke the stand on my 2709b, BK Precision refused to sell me new stand.

They sent me a replacement including the battery cover for free.
