wavetek datron 1271 help
« on: December 21, 2013, 02:19:07 am »
Our 1271 recently died after many years of faithful service. I bought a used one which passed self tests ans self cal. Currently it is out for calibration but fails with error s
2253
2273
2283

It looks like the unit has not been calibrated in a long time (years), so the drift rates it wants for a regular cal are making the 1271 mad. I also lost my 1271 calibration manual, so I am shooting in the dark on this one.

Does anyone have the calibration manuals? and anyhelp on the errors?

 :)

I would advise asking Wavetek is they still exist, but here is the calibration manual for the 1281. It is at the very end http://measure.feld.cvut.cz/groups/metrology/vybaveni/obr/Datron1281____umeng0000.pdf

I can't find one t=for the 1271, but these 2 are very similar
I'm not saying we should kill all stupid people. I'm just saying that we should remove all product safety labels and let natural selection do its work.

Here is the calibration manual definitions of the following error codes.

2253 +10V Ref Magnitude Drift
Digital comparison of the present magnitude against that recorded at the
         most-recent Internal Source Cal.
Magnitude Drift       0.999940 < drift < 1.000060

2273 1V Range Attenuated +10V Ref Magnitude Drift
Digital comparison of the present magnitude against that recorded at the
         most-recent Internal Source Cal.
+100mV Signal Mag. Drift   +0.999910 < drift < 1.000090

2283 100mV Range - Attenuated +10V Ref Magnitude Drift
Digital comparison of the present magnitude against that recorded at the
         most-recent Internal Source Cal.
+100mV Signal Mag. Drift     +0.9999< drift < 1.0001
