Extension Cord Reel = Stitches
« on: April 29, 2014, 06:43:14 pm »
Thats right.
Some boiler makers on the 3rd level of a local factory decided to pass each other a metal extension cord reel over a void. And the buggers dropped it.
I was on the 1st level, just pulling a plastic sheet over a panel, before going to the next job.
Man that steel reel hurts. Cut into my head. Blood pouring everywhere.

I can still see the look on the cleaning ladies face when she saw the blood rolling down my face.

Got a small shave from a sister at the doctor,  3 stitches and a tetanus jab later, i still have a sore head, as well as a bad hair day...

On the plus side, the brand new 3 stage vacuum plodder machine now has a nice bloodred tint on parts of it.

That is a shit day you had Peter. Hope you recover fast, though I think you should take the opportunity and even it out with a Roofie haircut again. Hope you take the cleaner a little gift tomorrow, as she probably had to hose down the "reminders" from your head.

Never had that, though 2 years ago I went and sliced my hand open replacing a window. Bandage it up and went to the neighbour, who is a nurse and asked for opinion. Opinion was " silly bugger, go to the doc and get some stitches", so i drove to the medical centre, and walked in and waited for the doc. Luckily it was my regular doctor doing a Saturday shift, so he said the same again, and proceeded to do some needlework on me, 4 little stitches. No pain as I took 2 Stopayne when I cut myself, while washing the wound clean and washing with Hibiscrub to make sure. worst part was the local, I know from previous experience that it stings.

Looks like it is time to find some boiler makers and introduce them to a few aircon 50uf capacitors just post test from the insulation tester. Preferably in the shower.

ps Was the reel still connected, and what brand of reel survives boiler makers?

Nope, no apology from them. But the factory supervisor actually saw them drop it. It looked to him like slow motion.
He only realised that it hit somebody when he came around the corner to see where it landed.

As they were taking me to the first aid station, he called the chief boilermaker down to explain how stuipid they were.

This is South Africa, where those are only needed at soccer matches. Possibly it was not a building site, or they did not put up the signs.

Thats messed up, I would have expected AT LEAST a damn apology.
