Title: Weller EC2100 Soldering Station
Post by: philbaker on November 29, 2012, 09:49:08 pm
Does anyone know about the internal layout/design of this station? My EC2100 has developed a fault, in that the display is stuck on "999" all the time. When there is no iron plugged in what should the display be? The iron's thermistor seems ok, it increases resistance when the tip is warmed. What is likely to be gone inside the station and is it fixable?

While not stuck on 999, I've heard Weller irons getting stuck or blicking a certain number...

Take a look at that. Gee another electrolytic capacitor related problem...

Many thanks for the reply. It looks like that may well be a very good clue to the problem. The ec1201 iron on this station is not a magnastat as it has a thermistor not a magnetic sensor. However the electronic problem with faulty capacitor is probably similar and I'll look inside the case.....
