Good thing you haven't yet seen my iron tip.

allright! we've been fooled by the "director".

yeah, I feel a bit/lot of parental interference in her videos. Similar in method to those 'beauty pageant' parents.

Don't be silly. Assembling an electronics kit, operating a computer, uploading programs into an Arduino, what is there there that any 16 year old couldn't do?

I presume you're joking, but if you are serious you are wasting your time trying to be an engineer. Being able to do elementary practical stuff like that before you even get to college (or at least be flying along with it as soon as you get there) is a standard aptitude test for a career in engineering.

The kid is precocious, sure, but she didn't do anything hard.

Maybe OP was most impressed by her creating various games on the device....but for all we know there are instructions for same with the kit and/or her dad showed her how to do it.   Speaking of dad, go here www.jimmieprodgers.com to see more.

Having said all that, except for the girl being a bit hard to understand her speaking voice at times, the video is quite professional, unique and funny.

nobody say what she did was hard but she's 8 years old , imagine what she can do in 10 years from now.

i was the dumb one , i didn't pay attention . i didn't realized that she used a kit i thought, she thought on it her self and bought the components and wrote the source code and everything... my bad...

It's her parents' idea to fund her education at MIT in 2019. Despite the obvious self-promotion/monetization, I still find it entertaining.

... and maybe it's a good thing to broaden the appeal of the hobby to other kids her age.  Not the only way, of course, but it might get some interested and show them that they can build fun stuff -- where's the harm?  Not everybody has a Dave for a dad ;)

It is one thing to have your kid interested in electronics at 8 years old, but an entirely different kettle of fish to keep them interested as they approach their teenage years. Especially girls. Boys are bad enough, but we have testosterone to keep us interested in engineering. Once girls start becoming women, oestrogen changes the whole game and all bets are off. Of the few women I know personally in electronics, they have all come to it as a more intellectual challenge rather than via the practical route. I hope she does continue with electronics, but hot-housing and parental pressure can rebound big time.

Ah, I wish I had the enthusiasm to try to do that. I am quite certain I could do something awesome with an Arduino, a set of libraries, two shields and a camera. Now the problem is I wouldn't think is fair enough. I can show some stuff if you want me to, though :D
