9$ while thrifting, some weird 1970s flash power supply. Hey it says 360 volts DC, that's great, and I think just the transformer in there is easily worth the 9$.
It works. Maybe I can use it to play with tubes, signal tubes not flash tubes, I wonder what makes this a flash power supply as opposed to just a DC power supply.
edit: There's a 500V 33uF aluminum electrolytic in there and a large flat film capacitor of some kind, so I guess what makes this a flash power supply is low ESL and low ESR output capacitance. I wonder if some photographers still have a use for something like this.

...
The two channel units have the remote sense on the back, so I 3D printed a small stand to tilt the instrument stack a little. So I can present the rear connectors to the front. ..

Dude!  this is a great idea!  For stuff like this I've been making little square breakout boards with all the terminals and putting them next to the units, but under them in a flat row is way better.  I'm stealing that idea.

I've attached the fusion .f3d and the .step files for it. It's printed in PLA with carbon fibre reinforcement.

The front has a slight angle to match the front of the instrument when it's tilted, based on the height of the stand and the length of the unit. It would bug me if it were vertical, but the instrument stack was angled. I might unscrew the front two feet of the NGM-202, to have it sit flush on the stand if I can find the roll of thin foam strip I know I have in a box, somewhere.

A Fluke PM6685 counter in perfect condition with 3 options installed .   :-+

PM9623 Battery module - the old batteries have been removed , but the internal batterycase and charger/regulator electronics are there .
PM9624 3.0  GHz (2.7 GHz) input extension .
PM9691 OCXO reference module .

Ok - 2,5 options because the dead batteries are gone  ;D

Does it pass EMC requirements? :-DD
Ofcourse, even made to EMC tolerances, and manages 14cm arc sparking.
EMC just needs to update its dated variables..   ;D

... and a new thermal camera.
What is the name of the thermal imager? Are there any replacement lenses for examining printed circuit boards?

Its an iRay Flip.
One of these stand-alone flip-out AMOLED 50Hz thermal cameras from China.
It doesn't support change of lenses on the fly, with its high IP water ingress rating at IP66 or IP67 and it relies on manual focus, which is okay, as autofocus on thermal cameras tends to leave a lot to be desired (constant focus-hunting)

Its minimum focal distance is around a meter to 1.5m, so one would need an IR lens, like Galium Arsenide or Zinc Selenide for shorter closeup footage, and both of these budget options get expensive fast, when you'r above the more conventional retail standards, which usually peaks around 20/25/28mm, fx 28mm is around 35 bucks, while 38mm is around 200.

MX-5200, thanks to SDG. Just needs a new power switch.

Interesting construction, every little thing glued down with white silicone, except for... the three huge inductors that could rattle and hit into the metal case ???

...I wonder about the old power switch?

As I have both the Metcal (500 and 5200) power supplies -  the MX-5200 switch definitely has a less pleasing feel to it and something of a hollower arcing sound from it?

I used this switch: https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/e-switch/RR812C1000-116/2116259 decent quality. Can't remember what the OEM one was.
The MX5000 has a loud high frequency snap, strong spring (its the same shape as 5200 but black instead of red), the old PS2E is a softer feel weak spring, large rectangular shape. But I don't really see any spec in the datasheet like you see with tactile switches.

World's smallest (civilian I guess) thermal camera.
Comes with a clip-on macro lens.
I got it because you can use it to find water leaks and poor insulation in walls.
And also for electronics I guess.

Last Friday I ordered a list of items using the Pick Three For Free Shipping Deal from Aliexpress and they literally landed in my front yard today.  :o  Less than a week isn't bad but the lack of care with the delivery is disappointing.  Half Arsed Express strikes again.   ::)

Today I got a 0.1Ω/50W resistor.

It's not so easy to measure the accuracy.
My DMMs, component testers and tweezer are pretty inaccurate when measuring resistance in this range.
But with two cheap DMMs, my new kelvin clips and a pocket calculator, you can get pretty accurate results  :)

19.228mV / 190.71mA = 0.1008Ω

Not bad, eh?  ;D

Amongst other things, I'm an information hoarder, and learn a lot from magazines, etc. So when elektor offered their English archive from 1974 to 2023 for AU$124 delivered, I jumped on that.

I bought 1000's of HawkTauh coins for dirt cheap. They say buy low, and sell high. So once she gets an OnlyFans account and becomes really famous, her memecoins that I bought will be worth MILLIONS for SURE  :-DD

way too many polypropylene foil capacitors (big series, 100pF to 1uF with as many values as possible), and the same with class I ceramics from 10pF up to 300nF. A pretty copper electroformed quarter, if you want quantity > 1, and a few organizer boxes.

It started to feel... cheap when I have 2 values per decade of good capacitors, with y5V in basically e96 series.

Now I just need a good polymer and tantalum assortment, along with trimmer inductors and capacitors.

AE-7 soundblaster card. I don't want a DAC usb crap, I want a card in side of the computer. It appears to have very low THD making it possibly suitable for experiments with low frequency radio as a side bonus.
