It arrived yesterday, let the testing start :P
Looks very nice!
I have not been up to date of developments since I bought a keysight 34465a five years ago.
Is this the comparable version from Siglent?

A Fnirsi HS-01 soldering iron with a 65W PD and a very nice, flexible USB cable.
It all looks pretty high quality.
$46 shipped.

It's Siglent's new 6.5 digit multimeter, there's a thread about it https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/new-siglent-multimeter/

An new old stock (2005!) XM Radio receiver.  I'm doing some work on XM Radio and wanted to compare performance between a "vintage" receiver and a "modern" receiver.

The best part was the XM-branded car cassette adapter it came with  :)

A Korad U203 lab power supply!

I am getting more and more old notebooks and other items (led lights, tool battery chargers) with a rechargeable battery were I have to find out whether or not these might be upgraded or repaired. Often they come without their power supply. Therefore, especially the prolonged battery charging tests, blocked my lab power supply for longer periods of time. For this reason, I set up a second notebook (and PC) evaluation test bench. See pic.

2   ATX power supply
3   DMM, simple - for polarity checks

Konica Minolta CA-210 display colour analyser, couldn't help myself lol.

Now given that it's around 2 decades old it does struggle in the ol' repeatability below say 0.2 nits, nothing a little averaging cant solve though haha. Since I have a spectroradiometer I can do the matrix calibration for each display I want to measure. It can store 99 of them which is handy.

What a wonderful VFD display, might be my first multi colour one.  :-+

That is a really nice looking connector on the top right haha jeeez.

A Precision 'Inanimate Rod'

Specs claim 4 microns in 300mm so I will see if I can tell how good or bad it is when it gets here ;D

$50 AUD postage for well over 10kg from the US was to good to pass up along with a 'decent' buy price.

A Precision 'Inanimate Rod'

As they say there are no stupid questions and the only online references I could find were pointing to The Simpsons episodes I have to ask: What is an Inanimate Rod and did yours also make 'Employee of the week'?  :)

Cylindrical Square - A physical metrology item and reference tool.

Stood Flat down on a surface plate that cylinder will be square 'precisely' to that surface +/- the spec. So the quick and dirty answer is they are used for testing others things are square.

Not so much employee of the week but it made me about 1 1/2 weeks food shopping poorer  >:D

This old Suburban Tool Video is a good primer. I do have one of their magnetic cylinder squares but they are another same same but different device.

Really nice find beanflying.
I have changed to chinese granite a few years back.
Got a square and triangle and beam with <2u on 250mm.
No it was not cheap but way less than the japanese or german versions.

Now the problem is how to improve my machine so it has any use for such a precision tooling : answer I am glad if I get around 0.01mm accuracy all over  ;D

Something a lot less fun than instruments, tools, equipment, or fancy gadgets and gizmos - but rather comforting.

Photo credit goes to: www.technicalhotandcoldparts.com/icp-1193890-kit-primary-heat-exchanger/ , although not where I ordered it from.

A replacement primary heat exchanger for my home furnace, as well as new exhaust piping and some modifications to help my new primary HX and my freshly cleaned secondary HX live a longer, cleaner, less acidic-condensate-inundated life.

I was going to buy a 34401A or(and) a proper RF frequency counter with those funds, but noooooo...

my first foray into 3D printing with this cheap toy .
with this compact EasyThreed or Mingzhe branded 3D Printer Mini K9
for printing small brackets -the odd shaped plastic bits in RC & art projects.
print bed size is a 100 x 100 x 100mm cube and its Not heated.
bed levelling & zeroing is manual by 4 buttons.
software- Gcode file on a USB or PC by USB cable
plug pack adapter power is just 12V at 24W so this may be slow printing.
and I got some exter PLA filament

Looks modular with identical X, Y, Z mechanisms.

I never used a 3D printer with a non heated bed. Since it's small, it may work well. There are also all kind of glues, adhesive tapes, and hair sprays that may help.

30kWh of battery storage. Complete with an inverter and BMS.

A client of mine got it from China last year, could not get it to work and was done with it. He installed an alternative system and this one was in the way. I joked that I would get it off his hands for €50,-, to which he said, you got it.

So then I had to stand by my offer. Transported the thing, which weighs a ton, even disassembled, and put it together again in my shed, while being frowned upon by my significant other, who worried that if I die she has to get rid of the thing. Charged the individual units (which were between 72V-75V), connected everything and to my great surprise the BMS is reporting that everything is ok.

So far the best 50 euros I have ever spent  ;D

11   Notebook power supply adaptors
What you do with sensing resistors, like ThinkPads and other high end notebooks that require special adapters to them? I mean, your power supply won't be bringing them up, unless you disassemble the entire thing, and solder in a proper resistor to the sense wire on the power connector.

You have special adapters with resistor inside them?

Today I got one of these MLX90640 32x24 thermal imaging cameras for CHF34.65/$39.83 (including delivery, battery and image memory).
Very basic but much better than nothing and probably sufficient for me.
If you want something better, you probably have to pay a lot more.

I have expensive thermal imagers, but I've been tempted by these cheap ones for the same reason I have cheap pocket oscilloscopes despite the expensive bench ones.

An Owon CMS101 Scope'ish AC/DC Clamp meter. Not because I expect it to be the best at anything or even better than what I already have. For $40AUD more than the Owon CM2100B it makes a lot of sense for a Vehicle grade BT meter. A lot cheaper than a remote display Fluke  :-DD

Oh and because this is obviously where the Coffee Pots/Gear Purchases Go  ;D I added a 'another' fairly rare Stainless Coffee Siphon from Gildhar to my collection. This will likely replace my current Aluminium one in the Camping Kit. In exceptional condition and I suspect never used looking hard at it.

Got some cheap gauge blocks so I could check digital calipers without having to send anything away. The blocks have been measured with far more accuracy than I will ever need, they turned out to be quite good (given the low cost). I made a case to keep them in (with plastic lid). I will probably never need to get them calibrated again provided they are looked after - the calibration report was very detailed and mentioned surface scratches due to use - looked very polished to me! Anyway, metrology on the cheap (good enough for casual/hobby use I think).
