What does this bit do? Proxxon drill stand, 28514 kit ?? I have no idea.
wilfred:
I acquired a bunch of Proxxon stuff which according to my research was part of a Kit numbered 28514. At least the low end drill stand only rarely appears in Google search photos and only in select European country websites.
There is a Red plastic device (see photos) that swings freely and is retracted normally. However it has a sort of cam inside that causes it to rise up about 3 mm or so when the drill is lowered about 5-6mm. The photo shows it sticking out further than it would when upright.
If you google "proxxon 28514" the first two images is pretty much all I have been able to find.
I don't know what function it can serve but I also dont know if I am missing some part. Does anyone know? I'll be buggered if I can figure it out. I'm reluctant to bias anyone but all I came up with was there could be a missing microswitch that turns on the drill motor when the drill is lowered a bit. But I can't see how it was mounted securely.
Hopefully these photos will help.
Pic158 shows how the moving part contacts the red part at the point the profile causes the device to pivot and rise above the slot on the upper surface. Other than that it faps about in the breeze.

I had a look through a few manuals on the Proxxon site for similar products but couldn't find anything that resembled your unit. My guess would be that it is some type of engageable depth stop or plunge restrictor, perhaps even a safety device or lockout in case kids have access to the machine.

Or even a depth indicator perhaps...

All your photos are close ups and can’t really tell, but looks like a part of a rotary tool stand. The stand goes in the smaller opening, the tool goes in the larger one. With the spring inside and everything. Certainly not part of the latest catalog...
BravoV:
Those are just parts, only the main body for the drill stand, as whole complete set you need the base, the vertical rod, handle and etc.
Although this images are not Proxxon, and not exact shape, just examples for clue where that piece supposed to fit in.
