[ car ultrasonic proximity sensor packaging ]
« on: May 01, 2014, 07:24:31 am »
Hi,

I have a question regarding how ultrasonic proximity sensors are packaged
in cars. I thought that there was a grid, but it is not the case, there
is a full cover protecting the sensor. Do you know how it is made ? Are
the thickness and the material of the cover, and the length of the ultra
sonic wave adjusted so that the wave does not interact with the cover,
but still interact with nearby obstacles ?

Thanks for your answers!

The cover is within the blind time of the sensors, so it ignores any pulses within the first dozen centimeters, (It takes time for the sensor to stop vibrating after outputting a pulse)
