Title: What is this wire sleeve called
Post by: Ground_Loop on October 06, 2021, 12:49:56 pm
I'm working on an old Philco radio and need to replace several caps. I will need wire sleeves as shown below, but don't know the official name to search on. I keep getting results for braided sleeve or heat shrink. What is the proper name for this stuff?

Some call it  "Insulation tube"

Found it.  Searched for silicone fiberglass sleeve.

Back when that radio was built, the industry slang term for the tubing was "spaghetti".

At the time of spaghetti tubing, it was often varnished cambric woven fabric.

I have always known it as spaghetti but Mouser considers it to be tubing.

Yes, it's important to put spaghetti on the leads of the condenser that's filtering out the 60 CPS ripple!
